Mice introduced to Gough Island are now killing seabird chicks and adults. These invasive rodents are pushing the Tristan albatross species toward extinction. Ecologists estimate millions of seabird eggs and chicks perish annually due to mice. Warmer winters allow more mice to survive and spread their harmful behaviors. Conservation efforts have so far failed to fully eradicate the rodent threat.
