Jake Whisenant’s cause of death: New update revealed after record-breaking climber’s tragic demise at 30

Jake Whisenant, the 30-year-old climber who set a speed record on El Capitan’s Lurking Fear route in 2024, died Aug. 3 after a fall in the Sierra Nevada. The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Coroner Unit has now determined a preliminary cause of death, blunt force trauma, while toxicology results remain outstanding. His death was ruled accidental.
