Nearly three months after his May 11 death, the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office has confirmed former Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke died from the combined effects of heroin and cocaine, ruling it accidental. Clarke, 29, was found unresponsive at his San Fernando Valley home and pronounced dead minutes later. The ruling, certified Aug. 7, follows a separate April drug trafficking arrest in Arkansas that remained unresolved at his death, and comes as Ja Morant, the Grizzlies organization and Clarke’s agency continue to mourn a seven-year Memphis fixture whose career was cut short by injury.
