On September 24, two individuals were arrested during a trap operation for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs85,000. The complainant’s sand-mining application was pending before the Shamli district mining officer who demanded further payment. Following the arrests, significant cash amounts were recovered from both the mining office and the officer’s residence. The Uttar Pradesh Vigilance Establishment is now investigating the source of this cash.
