Queimada Grande, or Snake Island, features a unique population of the golden lancehead snake found nowhere else. Estimates suggest there are around 2,899 golden lanceheads living on the island, contrasting with exaggerated online claims. Access to the island is heavily restricted to protect this vulnerable species and its habitat.
