Mirabai Chanu finally won her maiden Asian Games medal after finishing second in the women’s 49kg weightlifting event. The Olympic silver medallist lifted a total of 198kg (87kg in Snatch and 111kg in Clean & Jerk) to win silver. The medal ended India’s 28-year wait for a weightlifting medal at the Asian Games. Karnam Malleswari was the last Indian weightlifter to win an Asiad medal, taking silver in 1998.
