Sakhubai Padibhar never attended school, but she worked tirelessly as a daily-wage labourer and ragpicker to ensure her children could study. Her son, Gautam Padibhar, rose from severe financial hardship to IIT Madras and later cleared the UPSC Indian Forest Service Examination 2022 with All India Rank 139. A 2023-batch Indian Forest Service officer, he now serves as Director of Kanger Valley National Park. His mother’s visit to his office became a deeply emotional milestone.
