Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay launched the extension of the Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast scheme to classes 6-8 at Gandhi Gramam Middle School on Tuesday. He served pongal, sambar and sweet before having breakfast with students. The expanded scheme is expected to benefit 15.30 lakh students across the state. The government has allocated Rs 217 crore for the programme this financial year. A total of 217 students attended the breakfast programme at the school.
